Prince of Persia: The World Within Xbox Review

The Prince of Persing series has seen a resurgence in recent years, with several re-releases across various platforms including the original 1989 title making its way to modern consoles like the PlayStation Vita and now even mobile devices. However, none have captured quite as much attention (or controversy) than Ubisoft's latest offering: Prince of Persia: The World Within for Xbox.

As a spin-off in the series rather than an official re-imagining or remastering effort from the original creators at Broderbund and Brøderbass respectively; this game was developed by UbiSoft Montréal alongside their partners at Ubisoft Paris. This collaboration brings forth some interesting gameplay mechanics while also straying somewhat far away from what made its predecessors so beloved.

In Prince of Persia: The World Within, you once again take on the role of our titular hero as he navigates through ancient Persian landscapes filled with deadly traps and treacherous terrain. However, unlike previous entries in which platforming was at the forefront; here we see more emphasis placed upon exploration and puzzle solving.

Graphically speaking, this title looks pretty good for a current gen Xbox game released back then (2005). The character models are detailed enough to differentiate between various enemies types without becoming too over-the-top cartoonish like some other titles from around that time period. That being said; when compared side-by-side next generation titles such as BioShock or Portal 2 outdo it quite easily in terms of overall visual fidelity.

The sound design also deserves mentionable praise, with a fittingly epic score composed by an unknown artist (likely someone working under pseudonym) complementing each scene perfectly well. On the other hand; voice acting could've been improved upon slightly more so that dialogue feels less forced than it currently does at times. Overall though; overall audio quality holds up reasonably well considering age.

Lastly, let's talk about controls since they play a crucial role in determining how enjoyable an action-adventure game will be to play through from start-to-finish without becoming frustratingly difficult too quickly speaking; Prince of Persia: The World Within fares decent enough here. Movement feels fluid and responsive most of the time although occasional framerate drops may cause minor issues when trying to execute complex jumps or dodges at high speeds.

In conclusion, if you're a fan of platforming games looking for something different than what's currently available on Xbox Live marketplace today then perhaps giving Prince Of Persia: The World Within another chance might not be such an bad idea after all. Just don't expect too much in terms of graphical polish compared to more recent releases – but hey, at least it still manages to deliver some nostalgic fun along the way!
